May Blog Challenge 1 - Life Story in 250 words or less

I was born in Michigan and my mother named me Susan Baldwin.  However, at home my brothers and sisters were calling me Victoria Elizabeth and somehow they won the name game.  When my father, an Episcopal minister baptized me I had the hiccups “ . . . in the name of the father (HIC!) and the Son (HIC!) and the Holy Ghost (HIC!) . . . “  and ever since I have always felt somewhat less than graceful in social situations.  I forgot to toss my Brownie scout beanie at the fly up ceremony, striking out at whiffle ball games,  points off at horse shows for not having the proper riding jacket or real leather boots, was too scared to go to prom, and refused to walk at graduation, preferring to sing with the chorus, which was after all the most meaningful part of high school for me.

Things improved in college once I finally got there, 2 years later than everyone else. I found both my calling – teaching, and my spouse – John.  We moved to my favorite state NH and raising our 3 children, and skiing, swimming, building a home and great friends filled my days for the 14 years we lived there. We then moved to NC where I began teaching kindergarten, and got all our children through school.  Empty nesters now we live with our rescue dog Sydney, root for UNC sports and garden.  But I always return to NH.

  2. I find it funny that family keep picking on me for being on face book "too much". I think everyone needs to understand that I do NOT use a computer at all at work, and that connecting with friends and family on face book is a very enjoyable pastime for me. I try not to post more than once or twice a day, is that really too many??
